Turn a video into a depth map you can use

A video to depth map converter estimates the distance ordering of objects in each frame. Use the output as an effects layer or prepare it for a workflow that accepts depth conditioning.

01

Start with a short, clear clip

Choose MP4, MOV or WebM up to 80 MB. The converter processes the first 15 seconds, so trim the source first if you need another moment. Clear subjects and visible scene structure give you more useful material to work with.

02

Use grayscale for depth control

Near objects appear brighter and distant areas darker. Grayscale is the starting point for depth masks and depth conditioning. Inferno colors help you inspect the scene, but a tool expecting grayscale may not accept them.

03

Check the exported video

Download a silent MP4 or WebM with a longest edge of up to 512 pixels. Review moving edges and cuts before editing. This is estimated relative depth; it does not measure distance in meters or reconstruct hidden surfaces.

A browser-based depth map video generator

Generate an AI depth pass locally with practical controls for short video clips.

Your video stays on your device

Video decoding, depth estimation and encoding happen in your browser. The first run downloads the Depth Anything V2 Small model from Hugging Face and runtime files from a CDN. These downloads do not upload your video.

Choose frame rate, style and format

Choose 8, 12, 15 or 24 fps. Lower frame rates need fewer estimates; higher rates sample motion more often. Export grayscale or Inferno color in MP4 or WebM when your browser supports the selected encoder.

Preview, cancel and download

Follow frame progress while the model works in a background thread. Cancel an unfinished conversion or preview the completed video before downloading. The output has no soundtrack and no added watermark.

How to convert video to a depth map

Choose a source clip, set the depth output and download a separate video.

Drag a supported video into the tool or select one from your device. Check the source preview. Only the first 15 seconds will be used.

What can you do with a depth map video?

Use estimated depth as a creative input, with the original video as your reference.

Prepare depth masks for visual effects

Use grayscale values to separate foreground and background regions for experimental fog, blur or layered composites. Thin objects, reflections and fast motion may need manual correction.

Prepare material for depth conditioning

Depth-capable ControlNet and ComfyUI workflows can use depth images as conditioning. You may need to extract frames, resize them and match the source frame rate. Check the workflow requirements before importing the result.

Inspect motion and scene layout

Use the color visualization to examine where the model places subjects and background. It can help plan a depth-driven effect, but it does not produce a finished stereoscopic 3D video.

Prepare your footage and depth frames

Trim a different section, crop the source or extract frames from the generated depth video.

Create a depth pass from your video

Choose a short clip and generate a grayscale depth video locally, ready to inspect and download.
